I got my hair did by Becky at Salon Bordeaux and she did that straightening thing again that everyone loves. I think she’s convinced me to do what’s called the Brazilian BlowOut where they put this protein keratin shit in your hair and it somehow magically makes your hair straight for several months. I will give it a shot since I cannot for the life of me get this flat iron thing down.

Off to The Local for happy hour and Michael’s 21st birthday celebration! Actually I am lying he is not 21, he turned 40 but doesn’t look a day over 30. He was smart and used lotion on his face in his 20′s and you would never know he was the age he is. Tommy and I suprised him with Trevor Knight and Drew Cutler but he was not having it. Much like when my friends made Charles Dera come to my birthday party in LA in 2006 to strip for me and I locked myself in the bathroom because I was too embarassed. Michael didn’t lock himself in the bathroom but he was mortified. It’s funny when you meet your celebrity/porn crush and you are too nervous to even deal. I finally got over my issue with Charles Dera and now we are actually friends. I was just texting him the other day to say hi because I remembered that he was on an episode of SNL where he comes in as a male stripper for Alec Baldwin when his co-workers think he’s gay. Anyways back to happy hour…

Tommy, Drew, Trevor and his new boy toy Dave all went to Celadon in Hillcrest for dinner. I ordered the pineapple fried rice which was delicious and perhaps because of the sake shots I forgot to take the leftovers home. I hope the boys grabbed them.

And then Jessica and her bf Blaine picked me up because they were staying at the Marriott downtown for a wedding this weekend. We went to have a drink on the rooftop bar and I was dressed like a slob feeling like an idiot in a place where people were all dressed up. I was wearing this tshirt so I made sure to fully zip up my hoodie before Blaine’s parents came out to meet us. Awkward! You can’t take me anywhere!

They were a a lot more but these were the best.

I feel slightly overwhelmed this week with too many social activities between now and when I leave town again. It’s all fun stuff, but I think I might have overbooked. I honestly have no idea how I had a life at all when I was working 60 hours a week for 6 years. crazy.

Thursday May 20, 2010

I had lunch with my friend Alex in Hollywood at a place called The Corner. I have known Alex for about 15 years and have stayed in touch with him even though he moved to LA. He is an architect (has worked for Frank Gehry!) and has a design firm now and is loving life. He is trying to set up an office in San Diego so I hope to see more of him. We had a great talk about our careers (or lack thereof in my case) and relationships and where we are in our lives. It’s good for me to talk to people outside of the porn world once in a while because sometimes I think I am losing my mind. He put a few things in perspective for me that I hadn’t thought of. Points to ponder so to speak.

IMG_2713

After lunch I had some errands to run and then I headed over to Jonathan’s house to chill out and wait for him to get off work. His roommate Beth was home and I met her charming chihuahua Finnegan. It’s pretty obvious that Finnegan is not a fan of the fish eye lens.

DSC_0034

DSC_0069

We went to a gay mixer called Spring Out  at the Sofitel. It was pretty frustrating because there were a ton of hot guys there and they were all well dressed, well behaved, held good jobs outside of porn aaaannnnd… gay. It’s my own fault. We didn’t have time to eat before we went so our dinner consisted of these nasty cheeto thingys and booze.

DSC_0070

Have you ever seen the show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” where they take an object and have to come up with different uses for it? An improv thing kind of like charades with a random object. Well, something like this…

Then we went to Fiesta Cantina where the bouncer kept yelling at me for conducting a photoshoot in the stairwell.

Jonathan is a hot gay dude with a great personality. If you would like a date with him, hit me up. I can arrange this :)

And lastly I will leave you with what I think is a very funny video of the sounds that Finnegan makes when he is upset. You might not find it as amusing as I did at midnight, but then again, maybe you will. Beth was not amused by our antics. Sorry Beth! :(

May 19, 2010

I drove to LA for a meeting with my accountant in the Valley and then met Puma and Nikki for an early dinner at Sushi Dan. We had a slumber party at Puma’s place with a makeup artist named Ivy and another porn star named Reena Sky. We sat around watching more ridiculous You Tube videos, laughing our asses off, drinking, eating red velvet whoopie pies, and screwing around on Chat Roulette. If you haven’t heard of Chat Roulette yet, you are missing out on some good quality creepy entertainment. If you have a webcam on your laptop just go to the site and it’s pretty self explanatory. Here are two videos that have come of Chat Roulette that you will love (Thank you Jarin for posting the eye ball one on your blog)

And this kid just plays piano and sings about everyone who stops in his chat window. Hilarious. Improv at it’s best. He’s really quick.

Perhaps I missed this one when it came out last November but it’s pretty damn funny. A spoof on Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance. I honestly don’t know how I never saw this… it’s brilliant.

And keeping on the Lady Gaga theme… thank you Tommy for sharing this video on Twitter of a kid who is amazingly talented. He has a shot at fame, but sadly his voice will change in 3 years and his career will be over.

And this gem that Puma made us watch. Seriously? 3 minutes and 46 seconds that I will never get back. Whoever made this had to be on acid or mushrooms or something.

I have never thought to do this angle with this lens! So crazy!

Happy Birthday You Tube!

May 18, 2010

In honor of  You Tube’s 5th birthday I thought I would share some of my favorite clips with you.
First of all… I loooooove Chris Crocker. This kid is brilliant and I have been a fan of his since the Britney video.
I learned about him on The Jimmy Kimmel show (who I was engaged to at the time…) and he just became a huge internet sensation.

I began searching his other videos and also love this one about nose picking. It’s graphic, be careful. The videos with his Grandma are hilarious too, but I can’t seem to find many of them.

And I love this one called “How to Greet Your Mother In Law”. Fucking priceless! The best part is that no one tries to help her and they just laugh.

A little French bulldog who can’t quite roll over. You can hear him grunting and snorting. It might be the cutest thing on the interwebs.

The baby panda who sneezes.

The cat who takes a bath in the kitchen sink.

The monkey who sticks his finger in his butt and sniffs it.

Monkey who sees his reflection.

And the granddaddy of all videos… Battle at Kruger. It’s long but totally worth it. A masterpiece of the circle of life.

I could spend hours here but I have to get back to my regularly scheduled programming of entertaining myself. Enjoy!

Monday May 17, 2010

Over the weekend I realized I had put on 3 pounds so I got my ass out of bed at 6am and went to Bikram Yoga. Again. Let’s try this for reals this time, ok? There is no easier way to lose that many calories in that amount of time and I just need to buckle down and do it. I signed up for the 30 day membership and now that I am on a budget, I can tell you I will not waste that money by not going. Surprisingly it was not as painful as the last few times. I am going to go every other day until my body gets used to it. After yoga I went to the gym and lifted weights and a bit more cardio. I am about as serious as a heart attack this time. (ok sorry)

I spent the better part of the day narrowing down the Australia and New Zealand photos and tidying up the edit process. Ryan came over to talk more about the Super Secret Project and we had a glass of wine and ironed some stuff out. He was going to drop me off at Vagabond so I could have dinner with Pearla but we managed to talk him into staying with us for dinner. (Do you like the new logo? Thank you Taylor! Now I won’t mind if all of you fucks who steal my photos and post them all over Facebook do so.)

DSC_9896

Vagabond is a small restaurant in South Park featuring food from around the world. It’s usually pretty busy and the food is usually very good. Plus they have good deals on wine and an amazing basil martini. The first 2 times I ate there the food was fantastic and then the last two times I wasn’t that impressed. I was hoping that they would win my trust again tonight. Pearla and I had made plans to eat dinner and I referenced the list again and gave her a few choices.

DSC_9897

Tonight’s items that I was checking off the “50 foods in San Diego before you die” list are #24 Truffle Pomme Frite and #29 Moules Frites.  Both dishes were amazing.

DSC_9898

I love when there is a lamp right above my table and I can put the food right there and the photos come out perfect without using flash. It’s the little things that excite me, folks.

DSC_9903

We also ordered the French cheese and meat platter.

DSC_9901

And for entrees we shared the forest mushroom linguini with chicken (proscuitto yummm) and the wagyu skirt steak which was not very flavorful but cooked rare enough for my liking. Pearla changes up her vegetarian behaviors from day to day, place to place… so I was impressed that she ate the mussels and the steak. She never eats seafood so her Dad will be proud, and she doesn’t really eat meat in restaurants having worked in them for years. Gross. And she doesn’t eat a slab of pork but loves bacon.

DSC_9908

It had a bunch of soybeans and lentils which I am not a fan of at all.

DSC_9904

The place definitely redeemed itself, but the service was another story. With all due respect, our waiter was also the bartender… but he was definitely dropping the ball. When I had waited for about 10 minutes for a glass of wine I saw him texting someone on his cell phone and he saw that I was staring at him. He obviously forgot and then ran to get my wine. He also forgot to give me a glass of water and forgot to bring us more bread. I wouldn’t normally write about any of this but when I busted out my camera he asked what I was shooting the pictures for.  I told him I had a food blog so I mean come on… you would think he would have been a little more attentive. Perhaps he was stoned. I dunno.

This is Pearla’s reaction when I showed her the video of the chimney swifts. No one can believe how creepy it is til I show them. (In case you missed that blog entry check it out….)

DSC_9909

We had a great dinner with great conversation. Pearla has been running her family restaurant Bacione in Hillcrest for many years.  Between working 40 hours a week as a designer at Naughty America and then working til 10 or 11 o’clock at night she has not been able to enjoy a leisurely dinner in a long time. Recently her family sold the restaurant and she literally does not know what to do with herself. Having worked 80 hours a week for 10 years (maybe more? maybe 15?) and only taking Sundays to herself she’s a bit lost with her new free time. She’s sad that she had to give up everything she knew, but I am excited for her to really take some time to get to know herself again. I hired Pearla 3 years ago as a photoshop artist and she has grown so much and is now the lead designer over there. She is one of the people that I miss the most. For the last few months that I was there our offices were right next to each other and if I was having a bad day she could almost feel the energy coming through the walls. (Or maybe she could just hear me screaming at someone and slamming the phone on the receiver. lol) She would instinctively know to come check on me and see if I need anything. Mainly food or coffee :)  If you need some design work hit me up and I will put you in touch with her… she’s very talented.

Sunday May 16, 2010

I went to my niece’s graduation party today and ate my face off. Ugh.

I came home to finish up the never ending process of editing the vacation pictures so that I can show people and not have it take 8 hours. I turned on some old Anthony BourdainNo Reservations” that I have on my DVR to just listen to in the background…occasionally I look to see what he’s eating or doing. (Ironic that right now at the top of his page is this slide show titled “food porn” lol) Anyways, I heard this interesting music and looked up to see a very beautiful commercial shot by what appears to be the camera that gives me a boner. Please disregard the fact that it’s a Louis Vuitton commercial and just appreciate it for it’s artistic value and message.

More May Birthdays

I picked Dusty and Michelle up and we trekked out to Harrah’s Rincon Casino (on an Indian reservation) for Chris and Rich’s birthday celebration. They decided to spend their birthdays chilling poolside by day and gambling by night. Unfortunately it’s not quite like Vegas and they do in fact have liquor laws. I am just speculating but I think they have pretty strict rules about liquor because of the high level of alcoholism in the native American culture. They would only serve one drink per person and there was no freebies. In Vegas if you sit and gamble they give you free booze, but not here. Rich learned that one the expensive way after he dumped $25 into the machine and still had to buy his drink. And of course, they cut you off at 2:00am and you are not allowed to walk around the casino with a alcoholic beverage past 1:15am or something. Definitely not the same as Vegas but we had a blast. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the pool was refreshing.

I wonder what is going on in Rich’s tiny little 8 year old brain in this shot.

DSC_9710

Or in Chris’s 55 year old mind in this one.

DSC_9681

Somehow a dead dragonfly ended up in my hair and ultimately on Dusty’s hat.

DSC_9742

We love Candace! She had another obligation so she had to leave :( She had Rich’s wallet in her purse when she left and had to come back and we tried desperately to kidnap her and make her stay but she wasn’t having it.

DSC_9787

For dinner we went to a place inside Harrah’s called Fiores. If you ever visit this place, save your money and eat out by the pool or at the BBQ place which has pork bites that rival Phil’s. It was an average meal at best and most certainly not worth $80 a person. I ordered the escargot which tasted like dirt and really had no flavor other than, well…earth.

DSC_9802

I ordered the bone in rib eye (black and blue) and it was bland and flavorless as well. The lobster truffle mac n cheese was gritty but the mushrooms were decent.

x2_1593cd3

The best thing at the table was the asparagus with Hollandaise sauce and this dessert…a ginger cake with vanilla bean ice cream and a thick creamy vanilla bean sauce. Deeelish!

DSC_9814

Happy Birthday to 2 of my favorite mos.

DSC_9811

I was in bed at 11:30 pm and then was rudely awakened by an after party in my room that I was sharing with Dusty and Michelle in an attempt to save a hundred bucks. Rich wanted to come upstairs to see my bedhead and brought everyone with him. I was not very happy to say the least. I tried to pretend that I was not upset and that just made it worse. I ended up getting teabagged at some point and I am actually pretty pissed that none of them had the decency to document it. Idiots.

Too much time on my hands.

Friday May 14, 2010

I walked over to Joe and Vanessa’s apartment complex to lay by the pool for a little while (I have a key to their place) and there was this weirdo filming a couple macking on each other frollicking and whatnot. I was sitting there shoving my lunch in my mouth and the dude got me in one of his shots. I said “Umm, do you mind me asking what you are filming this for because I really don’t want to be in it. I don’t want to be in your little porno.” He was like “Oh no, don’t worry it’s a music video and I won’t use that shot if you don’t want to be in it.” yeaaaaahhhh righhhht buddy. A music video with that shitty little camera? ok. Trust me I know you are making porn because I used to do shit just like this all the time. I was just careful not to get random people in the shots.

I really do have too much time on my hands because this is what came of my day over there. I kidnapped Vanessa’s dog Kali and left a ransom note. I almost peed myself while I was doing this. I really do need to get back to work at some point.

x2_1561cdf

She didn’t mind the blindfold so much.

x2_1562670

But she definitely was not very happy about the gag. Alright PETA freaks, she was not harmed in any way! She still loves me :)

x2_1561dc8

I went to Tivoli to take some shots of the bar for their new website. I need to be there right before a Padre’s game because the place is packed but then dragging a ladder out into the middle of the bar when it is full is a little awkward. Anyways I had a few glasses of wine and was waiting for Jason and Jarin to come down and was feeling really lightheaded and too drunk for my own good. I hadn’t eaten and the food at the Tivoli is soooo bad for you. It’s a Montreal theme which means poutine (french fries covered in gravy and cheese curd), hamburgers, hotdogs, etc… really bad for you crap. I was just telling the owners that they needed to add some salads to their menu and while they were at it put a big sign up by the menu with a cardiac specialist’s phone number. (On a side note, I have the # of a good Dr and am going in soon.) I know my sisters are reading this and are shaking their heads but I can tell you I have not eaten bacon since my brother’s heart attack and I swear to you on our dead parents that I have been eating healthy and working out! That being said… I ordered the hot dog with Canadian bacon on it and the poutine. I didn’t eat all of, I had help. I promise I just needed something in my stomach.

x2_156b0c3

x2_156b827

We walked over to the Local to meet Dusty and Larry, a guy who used to work for Naughty America who I haven’t seen since he left. (So we had 5 ex-employees at the bar. lol) It was nice to see Larry again! He came to my SNL party as Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer.

DSC_9630

DSC_9655

I  love Bev and her boobs. She came to the 80′s party as Jessica Rabbit. One of these days I will post those pics and the video. That is the biggest slacker move I have ever pulled. Fuck… that party was in September!

DSC_9662

I love that I am double fisting in this photo. I am going to assume that I am holding the drink of whoever is taking the photo.

DSC_9666

I was home in bed by 11:30 pm. I really need to stay off Twitter when I have been drinking though.

Fiesta and Tony’s

[Day 3 in a row at the gym. Same weight]

I met Tommy at a place called The Big Easy for a New Orleans style dinner. Frank Terzoli, a former Top Chef contestant, owns the place so I was excited to try his food. We sat down and realized that they don’t have a liquor license yet so we politely told them no thank you and left. It’s my own fault for trying to go to a restaurant without a functioning website. What an idiot. We went approximately 25 feet across the street to none other than Fiesta Cantina: our favorite place for drinks and gawking at hot gay guys!

This is Bonnie, the cutest sweetest lab mix who kept licking my fish eye lens.

DSC_9564

This is by far one of my favorite fish eye shots to date!

DSC_9566

Tommy had to head home so I flipped a coin and met Tim down in Ocean Beach at Tony’s and then we ended up at Sunshine Company. I like OB, I need to get down here more often.

DSC_9584

He was with some friends who I cannot for the life of me remember their names. I am so bad.

DSC_9585

DSC_9613

This is lovely. Maybe one day when I get published in a magazine I will use this as my “Meet the Contributors” shot.

DSC_9610

DSC_9609

It was good to hang out with Tim, we did a little shit talking about NA which is always healthy! haha! I think I might have offended his friends a little because I was kinda fired up today. His buddy is a Hawaiian, Eskimo, Asian, part Black dude with a red beard and I just could not wrap my head around that. He was a cool guy and he began giving me a bunch of shit back, too, so I think it was fine. I told them about my new idea for a video blog and they loved it. It’s basically like Man vs. Food…. but it will be Girl vs. _____. Fill in the blanks with whatever alcohol is on the menu for the night. What do you think? I think it will be highly entertaining and self deprecating which is always a blast. I am going to wait and shoot it with the Canon I am ordering :)

In other news: Today was interesting because I took a call from Christian who I haven’t spoken to in months. Christian was a very good friend of mine for a long time but things got a little ugly with us professionally (he is a content provider) and I chose to stop speaking to him because of the unnecessary drama he was causing me in my life. I am sure he has a different opinion about why we stopped being friends, but nonetheless, we hadn’t spoken in a very long time. He sent me a text a few weeks ago telling me about how my blogging during my trip to Australia and New Zealand has inspired him to see and do more while he was traveling. Christian likes to sit in his hotel room playing World of Warcraft and he likes to go to the gym for hours on end. I’m sorry but if you can do that shit at home, then why bother going on vacation at all? Anyways, in a nutshell he called to tell me that he underappreciated me while I was at Naughty America and he wanted to take me to dinner. (I am going to go ahead and take this as an apology for his erratic and ridiculous behavior towards me earlier this year.)  I told him the only way I would go to dinner with him is if he flies me to Texas (his home state) and takes me to dinner there. That fucker owes it to me. So we shall see if it happens. I do miss him a little bit. And I meant what I said when I was a guest blogger on his blog at the end of 2008. (PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! there is a bunch of smut on there with no warning page and stuff you might not want to read about) Our relationship had changed dramatically over the course of 2009 and we were far from BFF status. Maybe now that I don’t work in the industry and have to deal with his unprofessional horseshit on a day to day basis, we can become “friends” and talk about things that do not involve porn. I can think of a few people who might disagree with the decision of letting him back into my life, but hey…things are on my terms now and I don’t have to talk to him if things get ugly again. I’m hoping we can be friends and I can continue to assist him in being less of a douchebag. Hi Christian I know you’re reading this.
