On Thursday afternoon Tommy agreed to go to Bikram yoga with me because it’s such an important part of my life now and he wanted to show his support. Not such a good idea. He made it through about 4 postures before laying down on his mat and hissing “I HATE YOU” for the rest of the class whenever I looked at him. His body went numb and he was freaking out as his face turned purple. Ooops. I guess it’s not for everyone after all. Especially not smokers who eat french fries for every meal. After yoga we grabbed some food and headed to a pub crawl. Problem is we were 2 hours early for the pub crawl so by the time it actually started I was done.

On Friday George Jaramillo showed up and was about to take his very first drink of 2010 and I raced over to his hotel straight from yoga (stinking and sweating) so I could join him. The cab took forever and his martini was totally watered down but it didn’t matter…he sucked it down and was totally buzzed. lol. In 2001 I went 30 days without drinking and on the 31st day I got HAMMERED after 3 drinks. I can’t imagine 9 months.

We were on our way to the Gayvn Awards at the Castro Theater and decided to take the Muni since the cab line was taking forever. I will spare you all the shots of the gay porn stars and just share a couple that I liked that you all can handle.

 I was heading up to San Francisco for the Gayvn Awards (The oscars of gay porn so-to-speak) and for the annual Folsom Street Fair (the closing party for a week long leather event) Why you ask? Why not! I got a special deal on the room for Thursday- Sunday but decided to head up a day early to visit my friend Chantelle who moved there in 1996. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the Marriott for the earlier night and every hotel in the city was either sold out or like $500-$600! There was a huge convention in town I guess. I ended up at the Knights Inn in the SOMA area for $200. This is what I got. lol

Nice hairdryer! haha The thing was hot and burning my hand.

I took a cab over to Chantelle’s place to meet her kitty Molly Bea.

Of course looking annoyed like cats do.

Iris was thrilled to model for the fish eye lens.

The photoshoot was over pretty much after this. She lost interest and wouldn’t let me take anymore. lol She is a stunning little girl though.

I am using a lens that I forgot that I even owned! A 1.8 50mm.

Chantelle and I went to Absinthe for dinner. Meh. The food was decent but the service was so-so. That also might be because we were sitting at the bar. I had to have the 1/2 oz caviar!

SWEET YELLOW BRENTWOOD CORN SOUP: with harissa ratatouille, basil cream and brioche croutons. It was fantastic!

HEARTS OF ROMAINE: homemade garlic croutons, parmesan and caesar dressing.

PORK MEATBALLS: San Marzano tomatoes, Grana Padano

HAMACHI CRUDO: heirloom melon, daikon sprouts, ponzu vinaigrette. OK I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS LENS! Perfect for food photography!

Unfortunately since it’s not a very wide angle lens it prevents me from shooting photos of myself and a guest. This photo is a strange B&W representation of what I might look like with a veil on if I can trick someone into marrying me one day! haha! I am not really the veil type of girl anyways.

Chantelle broke the seal first so I sent her in with the camera. Most of her little dance-off shots came out blurry. lol

Here are the hooker boots I was telling you about. You should have seen me leaving the ever so classy Knights Inn during daylight hours while waiting for a cab. Parents were shielding their children’s eyes!! (ok not really but I did feel awkward. Not to mention that I packed for SF in the fall and it was like a zillion degrees all weekend)

After dinner we went to Marlena’s…a famous drag queen bar close to the restaurant. They change up the decor every few months and tonight’s theme was Disney! crreeeeepy…everywhere you look was Mickey Mouse.

An Elton John/Lady Gaga impersonation show? I think? Some dude was giving awards away. I don’t really know what was going on. It was fun though.

Chantelle borrowed a wig from one of the drag queens and we took some silly pix outside the place.

It was great to catch up with her…she has been a friend since I moved to San Diego in the early 90s. Our lives could not be more different now. She’s a full time Mom and I am… well… I am me. We have definitely had our fair share of late nights and drunken fucked up debauchery.

I ditched her to go meet up with my gay friends in Castro. Sorry, it’s the hag in me.
