I decided to take a little trip to LA so I could run some damage control with people in the industry. I don’t want anyone to panic and think anything is wrong and I want everyone that I have been dealing with for Suite 703 to feel confident that it’s going to be business as usual working with Tommy 5tone. Poor kid has a lot of his plate now, but he can handle it and will be fine as soon as they get someone to help him. I am going to be working from home for the next few weeks to get him through this transition..

On Wednesday I took the train to LA and then to a subway to Hollywood. It was actually really easy and makes me hate LA a little bit less. I met Justin Martindale at his apartment and fell in love with his roommates new puppy. She is a rescue from some bad people who kept her crated for like 15 weeks and her back legs aren’t very strong. What a little sweetheart.

Justin was performing tonight at the Hollywood Improv for Gay Days, a monthly thing they do showcasing gay and lesbian comics. It was great, each one of the comics goes on for about 12 minutes or so and I can honestly say that Justin was in the top three.  The crowd was in hysterics the whole time. The guy who plays Darryl from The Office showed up and was just chilling at the bar…. and I wanted so badly to take a picture with him, but didn’t want to be “that girl”, the rookie who gets star struck in Hollywood. After the show we went to a small place in West Hollywood called Saint Felix for a few drinks with the comics from the show. I had the sliders which were made with bleu cheese dressing and were delicious! Then we decided to head over to Here Lounge where Justin and I were getting pretty silly and he was lusting after a hot go go dancer. 818 gave up drinking for Lent, so we had a sober driver all night. It’s pretty awesome but isn’t doing anything for my liver.

We went back to Justin’s place and he showed us a bunch of creepy weird clown toys that his old roommate left behind. Umm. Ok. Scary.

On Thursday during the day I saw Hot Liz and Carly Parker who were in town from NYC. We hung out briefly in the back of Eva Angelina’s SUV because Liz just had foot surgery and couldn’t walk anywhere. So basically they picked me up, we chatted in the car while driving for an hour and then they dropped me off in West Hollywood. Hilarious.

I went to an event at Micky’s with a bunch of industry people and told everyone about the changes that are going to happen and then got up at the crack of dawn on Friday to head home for my last day in the office. I am a little emotional…

I am going to give you the shorter cleaner version.. in a few days I will be releasing a different blog which shows a little racier content honoring the gays in my life.

Our first LA party was at a club called Tigerheat which is an 18 and up club with a 21 and up area. Trust me, I almost had a heartattack too when I heard that. I know it appears that I do nothing all day except party with gay men but I can assure you that I would much rather be at home watching a movie then dealing with a bunch of ridiculous 18 year olds in an over crowded, packed, sweaty dance club. That being said… we had a blast! Perez Hilton was there for a minute and I didn’t want to be weird and take a picture, so you just have to take my word for it again.

First we went to our PR guys house for some pre-party drinks and food. He has two very cute dogs who I was trying to bond with of course… I am very much missing my dog these days and tend to gravitate towards all animals that I see. The one on the left is a little nervous, I think she might have been a rescue, but the one on the right is a lover.

The ever so funny Justin Martindale… get ready to see a lot more of him! I swear I cannot get enough of him… he is so goddamn funny…. I just want to put him in my purse and carry him around all the time.

SATURDAY crept up and we went to Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles. I was so excited and so hungry.

We had dinner at the Sofitel in a restaurant called Simon owned by Kerry Simon. (Read more here) Good thing they put us in a seperate room with a door.

For my appetizer I tried the tuna tataki tower with a lump crab topping. All of the elements would have been fine on their own,  but they just didn’t work together. The crab was warm with a mayonaisey mixture, the tuna was cool and the rice was lukewarm. It was drizzled in eel sauce and in theory all of these things sound like they would work together but it was very confusing. It didn’t know if it was a cold dish, a lukewarm dish or a hot dish. Disappointing to say the least. And it looks like a pile of vomit.

For my entree I had the beef carpaccio pizza with white truffle oil. The bleu cheese was overpowering so I ended up just picking off the beef and eating it by itself. Not so good.

The lobster curry soup was actually not that bad…

The highlight of my meal was sitting next to Justin and having him accuse me of leaving my toe seperator in his soup. Oh my god, I spit wine across the table, had tears streaming down my face and pretty much lost my shit in front of everyone. If you have never had a pedicure you probably have no idea what I am talking about. Funny shit.

Tommy and his peeps from LA wanted to eat at On The Border for some god awful reason so we got the troops together and headed to Mission Valley. By the time we were halfway through brunch and had managed to offend everyone in the patio area sitting near us, the gay porn stars had decided to stay another night and were going to run around Hillcrest in Suite703 attire and continue promoting the relaunch. As you can imagine, this turned into utter chaos and debauchery. I will spare you most of the photos… I have the photos of the boys making out  stashed on my computer for my private collection

Urban Mo’s

There was an episode of Top Chef last season where they had to deconstruct classic dishes… this is deconstructed onion rings. lol (I would link to the episode but I STILL haven’t finished watching last season on dvr and I am afraid to go to their website.)

We then trekked over to Baja Betty’s and I saw the tiniest pair of UGG boots. I think they are so ugly… unless they are this size. Then they are ok.

The boys were sick of Mexican food so we  decided to eat some grub at Ono Sushi. I have eaten there no less than 100 times and know everyone  so I immediately walked in and apologized in advance to the manager Mark for what was about to happen. He bought us a vat of cold sake and we ordered a shitload of delicious sushi. I love that place and the best rolls there are the Triple Fantasy and the Munchi Roll. Dee-LISH!

I ducked out super early and gave Tommy money to entertain the boys for the rest of the night … We need to hire a babysitter.

Sorry I have been MIA… life is moving fast around here and finding the time to write is difficult. I mean between the parties at the gay bars and the drinking, it’s all I can do to stay alive and get my work done.

Oh come on, I keed, I keed. Well sort of…

Two of my sisters have expressed concern about my drinking (despite my repeated warnings to stop reading this blog… I know it’s my own fault. I was so proud of my foodie blog and I told my family to check it out. I regret inviting them now that I have decided to spice things up here). My brother wouldn’t know how to turn a computer on if his life depended on it so no concern there. And then my other sister, well, she’s pretty conservative and I would never in a million years tell her about this… hopefully she doesn’t find it. Second to oldest sister point blank asked me if I had a drinking problem over Christmas. I denied it. I could totally quit drinking tomorrow if I wanted to. I just don’t want to!

And then my oldest sister emailed me and said: “How come you number people…?  Do they not want to associate with you? LOL.  Wondering about your sexploits, you can’t seem to settle on anything/one. What’s up with that?” ……and then a day later wrote: “I know you’ve suggested that family members stop reading your blog but I find them very entertaining.  It’s just the big sister worry thing when you talk so much about being drunk,  hungover or having random sex.  You’re a big girl but I can’t help it if I love you. Love,”

Anyways… Today was our big release party in San Diego for www.suite703.com.  We had 4 gay porn stars in town who were hired to dance and promote our site at Rich’s in Hillcrest. First we met them at Yard House for dinner (I tried to get a reservation at Suite and Tender since they were all staying at the Se Hotel, but since it’s stupid restaurant week, we couldn’t get in. In retrospect, its better off that we weren’t at a high end restaurant… my god these boys get squirrely.) Dinner was actually good, I absolutely love the white truffle mac n cheese at that place…

Totally delicious, even for a chain restaurant! After dinner we walked to my loft where I had decorated the walls with glamour shots from our new content on the site. The boys walked in and saw 20×30 posters of themselves… it was really funny and fed their egos nicely. I had one made of 818 and hung it up as well and have managed to completely creep him out.

Here we are… one big happy family! I am like the mom, except that I want to do bad things to most of them. (**gasp!** sorry!)

It was a huge success… we gave out tshirts, condoms and access card to check out our site. All of the go-go dancers and bartenders were wearing our gear and if you were a customer that night there is no way in hell that you left there and didn’t know what Suite 703 was. Tommy got up and gave a lovely speech and introduced our boys… we had a lot of support from our friends and co-workers and we had a great time.

I was on my way to ducking out a little early when Michelle took a tumble and fell down in the vip area into the bottle service table and cut her hand all to hell. The steps in there are dark and stupid and in a very awkward place.  I have to admit that I panicked a tad when I saw all the blood. I was too in shock myself to even snap a photo of the scene. Damn! She probably should have had stitches, but given the fact she just had her appendix removed 2 weeks ago, she definitely didn’t want to spend time in the ER anytime soon.

Well today was the big day that Tommy and I had been furiously working towards. There were many people involved but he and I had been spearheading this project for close to 6 months now. We have been trying to stay afloat with our own duties all the while creating this thing we are both so passionate about. Thank you to the others involved (only a few who actually read this blog, thank you Taylor!)… we are really going to kick some ass now.

We decided to head out for happy hour in the gayborhood (shocker) so we met Chris and Rich and Jennki Jen at Baja Betty’s. We had a small snack and headed over to Urban Mo’s for a little while before Tommy and I almost fell over from exhaustion. (But not before I smooched and mooched a free drink from my new favorite bartender and bff Wes.) I think Vegas finally caught up to both of us. An early night but here are a few cute pics for you:

Chris and I ended up taking a taxi because the kid in the front seat was apparently on a “date” with the driver! lol CLASSY.

Last night was the latest night so far… I think we went to bed at 5:30 am. I slept in til about 12pm, fucked til about 2pm and dragged my ass to the lobby bar at 4pm. I am seriously busted, have no voice and have no interest in speaking to people that I am never going to do business with. I dodged a few people that don’t recognize me with my new look (20 pounds lighter, long hair and smaller wire glasses) and I said hi to a few folks from the biz that I actually do care about. I had a few drinks and rallied the boys for dinner at Yellowtail at Bellagio. But first we had to check out the conservatory…..

The botanical gardens at Bellagio change every few months and are intricately decorated to whatever seasonal thing is going on… alas we are just on the heels of The Year of the Tiger in the Chinese Calendar.

It was under construction but I can assure you when I go back next month for the kobe beef sashimi, I will stop by and give you a better understanding of the beauty of this place.

For some reason the other night at 3 am Puma Swede decided to start calling me Octomom. I think it was the nerdy striped sweater that inspired her. I dunno. It stuck on Twitter for a few days, but like most of my ridiculous nicknames, people get bored easily and move on. Here I am with my eight children

And onto the important things in life: booze and food!

We (meaning me) couldn’t decide on what foo-foo cocktails to order so I had them bring one of everything for us to rotate around the table and sample.

annnnndddddd, the entire reason we came to this place! The crunchy roll that has Pop Rocks in it! It is such a weird sensation to have in your mouth A) after so many years of not even remembering this candy B) having it combined with fish and/or rice. It’s definitely a novelty item, so by all means, if you aren’t already AT the Bellagio, don’t make a special trip over there. If you are in the neighborhood and are hungry, then definitely check it out. The best thing this place has going for it is the view of the water show. In the summer it’s amazing if you are sitting outside and can hear the music.

And we are off to one more night of hell! And by hell I mean drinking heavily at Pirahna and staying out late while screaming at each other in a club filled with smoke and annoying wasted people. Ok, perhaps I am one of the screaming annoying wasted people… but hey! I try to make everyone enjoy themselves by funnelling alcohol down their throats. Meet Drew Cutler… our unofficial contract boy for Suite 703.

The greatest thing ever (well, aside from the light table thingy from last night) a screen that shows your text messages. Apparently, this is all the rage and I am just living under a rock….

UGH. I can’t believe I am still standing. This is brutal. My last day on the show floor and I am going to make it brief. I got a random Facebook message from an old high school friend telling me to check out this robot/love doll thingy called True Companion and when I walked up to her and put my finger in her mouth I got yelled at.  Sheesh! Whatever! OK bring a plastic love doll that supposedly talks and keeps you company and then get snippy with me when I want to feel her skin? oh ok .

I moved to the Palms Hotel, a serious downgrade from the Palazzo and I realized that not only am I a food snob, I am a hotel snob as well. There is a different tradeshow going on for the next 3 days and it’s a totally different scene. Before hitting the gay parties tonight I had made a reservation for 818 and I to go to Joel Robuchon’s restaurant inside MGM (btw check out their cool website with the pillow feathers). I had been researching the menu at Robuchons trying to decide whether to do the 4 course, 6 course or the 16 course tasting menu and was torn. When I made the reservation early in the weekend I wasn’t sure if 818 would fully appreciate what we were eating… but over the last couple days I learned a lot about him. I don’t know that he is as passionate about food as I am, but he certainly “gets it.”

First we had the giant bread cart come by and we got to choose our bread…. I picked bacon and mustard on the left and a saffron roll on the right.

For the appetizer he had king crab with some other stuff  (King crab, avocado in a heart of romaine and olive oil with coral)

I had a black truffle pizza thingy which was really good. (Crispy fine tart with melted cheese and shaved black truffle)

Next course was soup: (Paris mushrooms, veal raviolis cooked in broth with black truffle)

And for the main course I chose pasta with black truffles. (Homemade spaghetti, soft poached eggs and shaved white truffle) Let me explain how I never learned how to eat pasta in public! I think 818 was mortified when I asked him to teach me how to do that trick when you eat pasta with a fork and you twirl it on the spoon and gracefully get it into your mouth without slurping and flinging it all over your face.  Super embarrassing that I am 38 years old and can’t eat pasta in a restaurant. GAWD.

Now, here’s the thing. I love truffles, but I learned the expensive hard way this evening, that it is really WHITE truffles that I love. (which are about 3x the price I might add). I wasn’t that impressed with the meal meaning that nothing really jumped out at me but 818 is convinced that it’s because I had truffle overload. Everything I ordered was buttery and truffely. I will definitely go back and do the 16 course with Chris (my favorite dining partner) and give it another shot, but I don’t know that this is the end all be all restaurant in Vegas.

818 had the fish as his main course: (Turbot filet, octopus with lemon grass, baby leek and artichoke)

The dessert was average, too. This was a chocolate mousse thing with a little cup of booze on top. I mean it was good, but I expected to be blown out of the water.

I actually liked my dates dessert better than mine and I rarely eat citrus type desserts.

I was falling asleep at dinner, didn’t even finish my bottle of wine and wanted nothing more than to take a quick nap before we had to head out to the club for the next 5 hours. So, that is exactly what I did! I took a 45 minute nap (I really did sleep this time) and then we headed out to a club called Gipsy where we had one of our regular Suite 703 models dancing his butt off in our gear.

We ended up at a nightclub called Revolution which has this awesome light table thing that consumed most of us for the better part of 2 hours. It was sensitive to touch and changed patterns every few minutes so we just kept playing with the damn thing forever. I have to have one for my place!
